Folded Dog I-XII - Sixfold Project, Fumble and Fold in black and white - September/November 2022, Artroom@Vivo, Palm Cove
Fumble and Fold was a collaborative exhibition from Sixfold Project. Artists - Raewyn Biggs, Barbara Dover, Louisa Ennis-Thomas, Julie Poulsen, Rose Rigley and Jennifer Valmadre - delved into the wonders of black and white works to produce a show with a range of media and conceptual focuses.
Folded dog series: Foster greyhounds were a perfect inspiration for this series of works. They come straight from the racing track, burst into my home with unabandoned exuberance, faithfully learn how to be a pet, and then exit sometimes as quickly as they arrived. Their “before” life is quickly forgotten as they fold themselves into the most unusual positions on the softest surfaces throughout the house and temporarily into my heart. Twisted, turned, contorted, bent upside-down but mostly under my feet, they provide a momentary flash of joy before departing to their forever families.
