Meanwhile - Sixfold Project exhibition 2022-3
November 2022 - January 2023 - Northsite Contemporary Arts, Cairns
Meanwhile, by artist collective Sixfold Project pays homage to the collaborative creative experience and the making process. Featuring new works from artists Jennifer Valmadre, Rose Rigley, Julie Poulsen, Louisa Ennis-Thomas, Barbara Dover and Raewyn Biggs, the exhibition probes and challenges the artists' individual interpretations of time and place within personal philosophical frameworks. Through the exhibition, Sixfold Project confront the brave ideas which can’t be contained, their material contemplations, and fresh responses to a world which is constantly shifting and evolving.

Telling Tales (copper wire)
Family dynamics can be complicated, multi-layered, and interwoven with fractious and visceral experiences. By contrast, they are also places of laughter and love. There is no doubt that we carry the imprint of our childhood memories into our adult lives and perhaps beyond.
As the youngest child born into a family that already included two stolen generation sisters, I knew no different. As an adult, I have a deeper comprehension of these dynamics and while I cannot tell my sisters’ story, I can pronounce my status as a witness. These disembodied tongues are their own storytellers – both as an ongoing mantra to hope and as a helpless penance to the challenge of an UN-changeable past.
