The Object Project (2020)
DO YOU HAVE A SPECIAL OBJECT? CAN YOU BE PART OF THIS PROJECT?
I am seeking approximately 100 people to provide a special keepsake or ‘memory’ object to be part of my upcoming exhibition. I don’t need to keep your precious item, I just need to borrow it, draw it and then return it to you safely.
The Object Project focuses on the connection between ordinary objects and past relationships. These small, tangible items can create an important link back to those loved ones, (human or animal), who are now absent from our lives or only exist in memory. The solo exhibition at NorhtSite Contemporary Arts, (October 2020), will include approximately 100 ink wash drawings of the objects that members of the community provide, alongside sculptural artworks created from engaging with people’s precious items.
Your object need not be impressive or expensive, it just needs to be significant to you. This significance and value comes through the memories that the object triggers of someone (human or animal) who was/is important to you. While it might create an automatic memory link to that special individual, the item itself can be quite ordinary, perhaps only having meaning to you. I don’t need the story behind your keepsake, I’m hypothesizing that the object might tell its own story.
Please contact me and be part of this project.
